Designed for adults and kids ages 10+ (supervision recommended for ages under 12), this model is a classic that can soar to heights of 600 ft. while using a standard Estes rocket engine (sold separately). It’s built with a large, stable design, features laser-cut wood fins for improved performance, and has a cool waterslide decal set for extra flair as it flies. This kit includes the reusable parts for launch, including a nose cone, a body tube, a recovery parachute, and design components.

This model-rocket-building kit can inspire a solo STEM enthusiast or provide a demonstration for a group of rocketeers. It offers hands-on experience in engineering and aerospace, making it perfect for hobbyists, schools, clubs, and more.

The Der Red Max is a classic Estes model rocket and another of our most requested bring back models and for good reason. Not only is this a uniquely decorated model, but this model performs as good as it looks. This is one of those model rockets that has a personality all its own. Standing just a tad over 16" (41 cm), it is still one of our rockets that is a must have in your rocket arsenal. From the long, ballistic shaped nose cone, to the stubby fins and the truly unique decoration, this rocket has attitude. Even though it has been out of the product line for a while, it hasn’t lost anything in terms of performance and can still top out over 700' (213 m) when flown on standard engines. Recovery is accomplished with a colorful 18" (46 cm) preassembled parachute for safe landings.
