The Intel CYP25HSCARRIER is a front drive bay module that gives servers, workstations, and lab systems a straightforward way to expand or rotate storage without interrupting ongoing tasks. It slides into an available front bay and accepts up to eight 2.5 inch solid state drives, making it easy to scale capacity or keep multiple project drives at the ready.

Because the module supports hot swap operation, a technician can replace or add drives while the system stays powered on and available to users. Each drive sits in a set of mounting rails that lock it firmly in place, and an integrated extraction lever lets you pull a drive free with one motion when it is time for an upgrade or a routine rotation.

This flexibility is valuable in many scenarios. A virtualization host can grow its storage pool as new virtual machines come online. A media production team can swap project drives between shoots without shutting down editing stations. An IT lab can test different operating systems on separate SSDs and move between them in minutes rather than hours.

The module was originally part of Intel’s Coyote Pass platform, and although that product line ended in 2023, the carrier remains a practical solution for anyone who still relies on compatible hardware or wants a reliable drive management option. Supply may be limited, so securing a unit now can help extend the life and usefulness of existing systems.

Highlights:

  • Holds up to eight 2.5 inch SSDs
  • Hot swap design allows drive changes without shutting the system down
  • Mounting rails and an extraction lever make installation and removal quick
  • Developed for Intel Coyote Pass hardware
  • Introduced in 2021 and discontinued in 2023, which affects availability
